Become a School House

Become a LIAF School House:
Better Hosts for Better Educational Experiences

A warm, homely environment makes true full-immersion possible.
Thank you for caring, teaching, and sharing.

Why become a LIAF School House?

  1. It is free to sign up
  2. You are free to choose when and who to host
  3. Meet motivated young people from around the world
  4. It is simple to set up and manage (like having one more young person at home — but fairly paid)
  5. Make money while providing meaningful educational experiences

Our policy: No co-nationals / Same language

As a Host family you may host up to 4 students at any given time.

We require our School Houses NOT to host students of the same nationality/language. Examples:

If you have an Italian student, do not accept another Italian; if you have a Colombian guest, avoid hosting a Spanish student.

Exception: when students explicitly request to share together (e.g., 14–15 year-olds travelling in pairs).

What do students/parents expect as included in the price?

Before arrival:

  • Accept or decline requests using the button provided (“accept” / “decline”);
  • Receive a phone call from the accepted student a few days before arrival.

For their stay:

  • Pick up (usually on weekends) and drop off the student(s) at the airport shuttle stop;
  • Spend one weekend day with the student doing something enjoyable;
  • Provide full board: breakfast, lunch/packed lunch, dinner and a clean room/home;
  • Provide five 30-minute “conversation sessions” (Mon–Fri) to practise English and reflect on daily experiences.

You should, in general:

  • Be kind and helpful (bus routes, gym sign-ups, etc.);
  • Follow the specifications on our portal;
  • Remember the accompanying teacher represents the school/parents, not LIAF — please contact us directly for support.

We will support you at every step: setup, vetting, training and any assistance before, during and after the student’s stay.

Payments

You receive a fixed weekly amount per student (double for a twin share), covering the standard services listed above.

Additional educational time can be offered when requested by students/families:

  • £200 per week for 10 hours of conversation/learning;
  • £300 per week for 15 hours (often when hosting 2+ students);
  • £250 per week for afternoon “CLIL” educational activities.

These extra costs are shared among students in the same School House / school group.

Example: With a fixed weekly amount of £240 + conversation + afternoon activities, you could earn:

  • £690/week for an individual student
  • £930/week for a twin share

Extra expenses: tickets, transport and activity fees are paid directly by students. If an activity requires the host to pay, students also cover the host’s cost.

Who makes the payments

Payments are made within the first Friday of the student’s stay:

  • Paid by us (for school groups);
  • Or paid directly by the students.
